How Sacramento residents are beating the heat as triple-digit temperatures arrive
Residents are shifting their routines, seeking shade and cooling off at local favorites as a multi-day heat wave settles into the region.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
As a heat wave settles over the Sacramento region, residents are adjusting their routines to avoid the hottest parts of the day and find ways to stay cool.
“I’m not an 8 a.m.-er, but we came at like 9:30, and it’s still hot,” Elk Grove resident Nari Aminy told KCRA 3 while visiting the Midtown Farmers Market.
Others said the heat felt unusually intense.
“I’m like, ‘God, it has that Phoenix heat.’ That’s weird for here,” said Ruben Coss, who was visiting from Flagstaff, Arizona.
Many residents opted to start outdoor activities earlier, while others sought relief at places like Gunther’s Ice Cream or along the American River Parkway as temperatures climbed.
Friday through Tuesday are KCRA 3 Weather Impact Days as dangerous heat moves into Northern California. High temperatures in the valley are expected to range from 100 to 105 degrees.
