SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A victim was stabbed in a Downtown Sacramento apartment building in the early hours of Saturday morning and was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Sacramento police said the stabbing happened just before 12:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of 9th St. Officers identified the suspect and began looking for him in the building, eventually tracing him back to his own apartment.

The police spent several hours trying to get the suspect to surrender before forcing entry into the apartment around 4:45 a.m. According to Sacramento police, an outside agency police dog bit the suspect while officers were apprehending him, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was then booked into jail.
