San Francisco police arrested a man on attempted murder and other felony charges after a reported shooting on July 23 damaged an occupied vehicle, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area of Steiner and Bush streets after receiving a report of shots fired.
The victim told dispatchers a gunshot shattered a vehicle window and that the suspect fled in a yellow vehicle, police said.
Police said officers used the department’s Drone as First Responder program and the city’s automatic license plate reader system to track the suspect vehicle.
A patrol sergeant later located the vehicle parked nearby, and officers detained a man matching the suspect’s description without incident, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Investigators said officers recovered a handgun near the vehicle and found additional ammunition during a search of the vehicle.
The suspect was booked into San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, SFPD said.
Police did not release the suspect’s identity, citing the ongoing investigation.
