LONG BEACH — The blueberries are ripe and ready for harvest, offering a sweet taste of summer from one of the peninsula’s native fruits.
Locally, picking is available at Cranguyma Farms, located at 113th and Sandridge in Long Beach. The farm features a decades-old ‘u-pick’ blueberry patch that consists of seven different cultivars of the native fruit, including Weymouth and Rancocas, which ripen in early summer, followed by Pemberton, Jersey, and Dixi, which ripen closer to August.
The ‘u-pick’ berries are $3.50 per pound, with ‘Redi-pick’ available for $4 per pint or five pounds flat for $25. Bulk blueberry orders are available upon request by calling 360-244-1553.
