“They will enhance our ability to provide reliable service and response in areas that present challenges for standard patrol vehicles,” the agency stated.

CHP officials said the addition of the new fleet reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to equipping officers with the resources needed to protect the public statewide.

“These trucks represent another step in ensuring our officers have the tools needed to provide the highest level of safety and service to communities across the state,” according to CHP Fleet Operations.

One of the new Silverado patrol trucks has already been assigned to the CHP’s Morongo Basin Area office.

In a Facebook post published July 24, 2026, CHP Morongo Basin introduced the vehicle to the community, writing, “Meet the newest member of the Morongo Basin CHP fleet. The new Silverado pickup truck will help us respond and assist in our mountain and desert terrain. This is our newest tool that will ensure we can provide the best service to the members of our community.”

The post highlights how the new four-wheel-drive patrol trucks are already being deployed in areas where rugged mountain and desert terrain can make emergency response more challenging.

The newly outfitted Chevrolet Silverado patrol trucks feature the CHP’s traditional black-and-white livery, emergency lighting, push bumpers and law enforcement equipment while offering the added versatility of four-wheel drive for patrol operations in rural, mountainous and other difficult-to-access areas.
