Two people were shot dead and two others injured early Monday in Oak Park.
The Oak Park Public Safety Department received multiple reports of gunshots at approximately 4:48 a.m., officials said. An 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were found inside a home and pronounced dead at the scene — a residential area on Coolidge Highway south of Nine Mile Road, officials said. Their names haven’t been released.
The two injured people are known to investigators and are hospitalized in stable condition, officials said.
No arrests have been made, officials said.
An investigation is underway by the Oak Park Public Safety in collaboration with the Oakland County Crime Scene Analysis Unit.
“This senseless act of violence and disregard for human life will not be tolerated in our community,” City Manager Erik Tungate stated in a news release. “We are dedicating every available resource to this investigation and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. If anyone has information, we urge them to come forward.”
Anyone with further information on the case is asked to contact Oak Park Public Safety at 248- 691-7520. Residents are also encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
This is Oak Park’s second fatal shooting incident in less than a month. On July 17, a 27-year-old man was found dead inside his vehicle outside a building at 21301 Meyers Road. He had a gunshot wound to the head, officials said. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Officials said the death was ruled a homicide. Further details including the man’s name have not been released.
