39-year-old woman suspected in blunt force homicide of roommate is detained in Sacramento
SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. —
A 39-year-old woman suspected of killing her 68-year-old roommate was arrested in Sacramento earlier this summer, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said on Monday it found the remains of Frankie Marie Keller, of Seiad Valley, on June 8 near Hawkinsville View Road, a rural area in Hawkinsville and north of Yreka.
An autopsy determined the woman died of blunt force trauma.
Detectives determined that Keller’s roommate, Elzie Jane Hernandez, was a suspect, and a warrant for her arrest was issued on June 29.
That same day, detectives found Hernandez driving through Butte County into Sacramento County, where they arrested her.
She was later taken to the Siskiyou County Jail and charged with murder. A preliminary court appearance is planned for Aug. 14.
No possible motive was released.
The sheriff’s office said it has been unable to find a next of kin for the victim, Keller.
