President Donald Trump will be in Los Angeles on Tuesday as he aims to highlight what the White House describes as “failed Democratic leadership” while touting his administration’s accomplishments, NBC News learned Monday.
The president’s visit will include a Republican National Committee fundraiser Tuesday evening at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Trump’s remarks are expected to include criticism of Gov. Gavin Newsom, according to the White House.
“The President will draw a sharp contrast between his commonsense agenda and the radical policies of Democrats like Gavin Newsom, who keep raising taxes, inviting rampant fraud in taxpayer-funded programs, and protecting illegal immigrant drug dealers, rapists, and murderers,” White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales said.
It was not immediately clear what time the president would arrive at LAX or how his trip to Rancho Palos Verdes would affect local traffic.
After Tuesday’s event, Trump is scheduled to travel to Las Vegas, where he will deliver remarks on the economy at Red Rock Casino on Wednesday.
Newsom had not publicly commented on the president’s planned trip as of Monday afternoon, but the California governor has been one of Trump’s most outspoken critics.
Most recently, Newsom shared a list on his X account showing price increases for products commonly purchased by American consumers, including rice, wheat and cheese, adding: “Great work, @realDonaldTrump.”
The White House noted that Trump made FEMA assistance available to victims of the Palisades and Eaton fires and directed federal agencies to assist with debris removal and recovery operations.
Trump also visited Pacific Palisades in January 2025 following the wildfires and hosted a roundtable discussion with lawmakers and local officials.
Earlier this year, the president signed an executive order aimed at speeding the rebuilding process in areas affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires.
