NorCal forecast: Less Heat In The Forecast
Tuesday is another KCRA 3 Impact Day as triple digit high temperatures are forecast for the Valley and Foothills. As marine layer builds along the coast less heat is expected over the next few days.
Today is the day we have been waiting for… many Valley spots are running a couple of degrees above yesterday’s temps which would put our max at 105 degrees which would be the highest temps Sacramento has seen so far this year. The record is only 106, so I am keeping an eye on that as well. Marine layer re-forms overnight, which will help to shave a few degrees off of the next three days afternoon highs but, the heat is still here, and areas not affected by the marine layer will still be hot. The East slope of the Sierra may experience an increase in smoke from the Oregon Fires. Triple digits return Friday and Saturday but relax again Sunday and Monday.
Record heat for Sacramento
Sacramento tied its record max temperature for Monday Aug, 3rd. The heat peaked Monday and should drop over the next few days.
Number of 100 degree days are down
Through July the number of 100 degree days is usually thirteen. So far through that period we have only had five. August is off to a hot start with all three days so far in the triple digits.
August Heatwave
Monday brought some of the hottest temperatures of the season so far. It was the first time we experiences 106 degree heat in over a year.
Impact Days for Northern California
The heat will decrease Tuesday but still stay hot. We should drop below 100 degrees by Wednesday.
Foothills & Sierra 7 day forecast
Afternoon heat will be intense for the next week in the Foothills. Mornings will stay warm with sunrise temperatures in the 70s.
Sierra temperatures will run hot in the afternoon but the early morning hours will be comfortable.
Valley 7 day forecast
An increase in the marine layer will help keep some places out of the 100s Wednesday and Thursday. Next weekend could see a brief return of the triple digits.
