President Trump made a rare trip to Los Angeles on Tuesday for an RNC fundraising event at his golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes.
RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. (KABC) — President Donald Trump visited Southern California on Tuesday for a Republican fundraising dinner at his Rancho Palos Verdes golf course.
Trump was expected to speak about the economy and crime during the event.
He arrived at Los Angeles International Airport aboard Marine One just after 4:30 p.m. before making his way to Rancho Palos Verdes.
Trump’s last official California stop came in January 2025 following the devastating Palisades and Eaton fires.
In a meeting with local, state and congressional leaders, Trump assured them “the federal government is standing behind you 100%.”
Gov. Gavin Newsom will likely be a target of Trump’s remarks during the fundraiser. The governor issued a statement Tuesday regarding the president’s visit.
“After more than 18 months of a delay, I hope President Trump’s visit brings long overdue federal recovery funding directly to the families rebuilding after the L.A. wildfires,” Newsom said. “This is an opportunity for the president to honor his commitment to provide these survivors with the funding he promised them.”
Trump has responded to Newsom’s statement.
