“It takes a lot to run a city,” Creighton said. “When you neglect stuff for a long time, it’s going to cost you a lot of money. And, if it wasn’t neglected, you wouldn’t see these kind of increases now.”

(City of Long Beach) An itemized list of what the City of Long Beach will be borrowing to fund, per a Tuesday night vote.
The life cycle of these bonds runs from five years on the low end to 40 years on the high end. The only projects hitting that 40-year mark are sewer and water upgrades.
“The benefits to our community are several. It really helps us to have a state of good repair, we’ll have more reliable services,” Creighton said. “We really need to get our utilities, our roads [and] our buildings up to a place where we know that they’re reliable, and we don’t have to keep fixing stuff over and over again.”
“It’s really for long-term sustainability and efficiency gains,” Creighton said.
