Crews knocked down a small brush fire in the area of Kearny Villa Road and state Route 163 on Friday afternoon.

A stretch of Kearny Villa Road at state Route 52 was shut down as crews worked to prevent the head of the fire from jumping the road, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson Candace Hadley said.

The fire grew to 2 acres before being knocked down just after 3:41 p.m., the agency said on social media. Fire officials said crews will stay at the site to douse any remaining hot spots.

San Diego police said on social media that law enforcement had shut down the transition ramp from northbound SR-163 to westbound SR-52, and westbound SR-52 to Kearny Villa Road.

“Please be advised there may be additional traffic impacts in the area as crews continue their mop up,” Hadley said.

San Diego police said initial callers reported seeing flames at SR-52 and Interstate 15.
