BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Kern County teen’s Make-A-Wish for a clarinet came true Friday morning.
On Friday, August 8, 2026, Make-A-Wish Central Coast and Southern Central Valley granted a teen’s wish to have a clarinet.
The teen, Marques Urbano, will receive the instrument to help him continue pursuing his passion for music.

“For Marques, music is more than a hobby. It is a source of comfort, confidence, and self-expression,” said in a release. “The teen dreams of having a high-quality clarinet of his own so he can continue developing his musical talents.”
Marques was diagnosed with kidney disease after becoming critically ill and requiring emergency treatment at Children’s Hospital. Since then, ongoing dialysis treatments have become a regular part of his routine.
Marques arrived at Nick Rail Music to receive his wish in a limo.

Marques, a Delano graduate, said he was surprised when he was picked by Make-a-Wish. “It’s very surreal, I think. It feels like I’m not in the moment right now.” He was very thankful to the store and the Make-a-Wish Foundation for getting his wish granted.
