All evacuation orders were lifted for a 20-acre fire that burned close to homes near Jamul on Friday.
The fire, dubbed the Beaver Fire, broke out near Skyline Truck Trail and Castle Peak Lane around 2:25 p.m., Cal Fire officials said. Forward progress was stopped about three hours later, with 5% containment reported, officials said. A hand crew was working to surround the fire with hose and a containment line, officials said.
Evacuation orders were in effect for neighborhoods and businesses north of Lyons Valley Road, east of Hidden Trail Drive, south of Sloane Canyon Road and west of Beaver Hollow Road, according to online Genasys mapping. The orders and evacuation warnings in surrounding communities were all lifted around 7 p.m.
Fire crews battled the blaze in temperatures that reached the high 80s, with 30% humidity and 6 mph winds out of the west, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Paul Steward. Gusts were reportedly reaching up to 12 mph.

“The wind is pretty light, but that might be one of the biggest concerns for (the firefighters),” Steward said.
Steward said the wind speeds should be decreasing throughout the afternoon and heading into the evening.
