Support local libraries The Friends of the Kern County Library used book sale continues today at Beale Memorial Library. Peruse a huge selection of gently used books for kids, teens and adults as well as CDs, DVDs and puzzles. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the library, 701 Truxtun Ave. The Friends of the Southwest Library will hold its used book sale from Sept. 10 to 15. This event will include books for all ages, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs and puzzles. Sale hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 for member day (join at the door), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 11, half-price days 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 and noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 14, fill a provided bag ($4) or box ($10) day noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the library, 8301 Ming Ave.
