Most music festival attendees looking for an on-site glow-up settle for glitter and flower crowns, maybe committing to braids if they have the time. But the most high-profile amenity at Outside Lands that’s brand new for 2026 is a full-on barbershop with four chairs open to anyone who’s looking to chop off some length.
Sheena Lister runs The Barb, a Bernal Heights business that caters to a largely queer and lesbian clientele. A longtime city resident, she’s been to 15 Outside Lands.
“This is the best festival in the world,” she said. “It does an amazing job of giving people permission to be themselves. That’s what we’re here for.”
Lack of sinks be damned, Lister and her staff are offering several services, including a traditional fade and a no-fuss, just-get-rid-of-it cut. “A couple people have come in, like, ‘Just fucking buzz it. Let’s go!’” she said.
