Steve Hawk will discuss and sign his new novel, the surf thriller “Nearshore”, at a Tuesday, Aug. 25 event held courtesy of Camino Books in Del Mar Plaza. The conversation will be led by novelist and surfer Kem Nunn, the author credited with inventing the surf noir genre with his 1984 novel “Tapping the Source”.
The event, hosted by Camino Books, is free to attend and will be held on the Ocean View Deck at Del Mar Plaza starting at 6 p.m. Limited reserved seating is available with the purchase of one copy of the book.

“Nearshore” is the first novel from Hawk, a surfer for nearly 60 years who was raised on San Diego waves and now lives near Half Moon Bay. The former journalist and editor of surfline.com and Surfer, Sierra and Stanford Business magazines, previously published a book on the science behind waves and is currently co-writing a book about the history and culture of skateboarding with his brother Tony Hawk.
“Nearshore” tells the story of a surfer and lifeguard who, in responding to a suspicious boating accident, finds himself plunged into a mystery that could link a recent act of domestic nuclear terrorism to a Silicon Valley megacorporation.
