A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night in East Oakland, authorities said.

The coroner’s bureau on Sunday was trying to identify the woman and contact relatives. She is believed to be in her 40s.

According to police, the woman was walking at the intersection of 73rd and Garfield avenues when she was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on 73rd Avenue. The driver fled without stopping. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police on Sunday had not located the vehicle or given any description of the vehicle or the driver.

It is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
