Snowmen sightings in Pasadena?
It’s true that the Crown City has gone extremely cold in the past, so cold that some flakes did collect here and there on a few rare occasions.
But finding a festive spot around the city where children can construct festive snow characters is still quite challenging, even when the snowpeople are not technically made of snow.
Kidspace Children’s Museum near Rose Bowl Stadium can help. Each fall and early winter the educational institution throws a merry Winter Frolic, and though temperatures may hover in the 60s and 70s, the fun is frosty in spirit.
The area devoting to dressing up snowmen is a favorite with youngsters, as is the chance to pedal a trike through a winter-inspired area (a candy-covered hut is one charming feature).
Constructing an ice fort, with non-icy blocks, is also a draw for aspiring engineers and any kid that loves to fashion their own fanciful structures (so, yes, basically all kids everywhere).

Sock skating is a “Frolic”-some favorite this time of year; join the fun by paying \$5.50 (in addition to the admission price).
And the offbeat opportunity to skate while rocking your socks? That, too, has become a beloved burn-off-some-energy experience at the museum.
The frolicsome adventures are included with your Kidspace admission, with an exception: Sock skating is an additional $5.50.
“Winter Frolic captures the warmth and joy of the season by giving families a special place to connect and play together,” said Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements.
“It’s a time to pause the holiday hustle to let the kids lead and make joyful memories as a family.”
The frolic-strong celebration takes place outdoors, meaning you can have your “snowy” fun in the sun. For more information and to buy your tickets ahead of time, sock-skate over to this site now.
