Bug Fire: Flames burning in California, Nevada threaten Washoe County homes
A wildfire that has prompted evacuations in both California and Nevada has burned at least 15,000 acres as firefighters try to gain control of the flames.
The Bug Fire started shortly before 4:10 p.m. Saturday east of Highway 395 and south of Bringman Road in Lassen County, Cal Fire said. When it was first reported, it had burned roughly 50 acres, but the fast-moving fire swept through around 800 acres in its first two hours of burning.
Around 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Cal Fire said the fire was threatening the Cold Springs community in Washoe County on the Nevada side. Some of the acres burned were in Lassen and Sierra, but the fire remains most active in Nevada.
By Sunday evening, Cal Fire reported 3% containment lines around the burn area to help prevent flames from continuing to spread.
Some evacuations surrounding White Lake were lifted, but mandatory evacuation orders remain in place for parts of Washoe County. See an evacuation map below.

As of 6:14 a.m. Monday, Cal Fire said the Bug Fire has burned at least 15,000 acres.
Because of the fire, several Washoe County School District schools are closed Monday. They are:

There are no reports of injuries or structures damaged, and the cause of the fire is not known.
