BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Expect delays if planning to travel to Kern County from Southern California after three lanes are closed due to a semi-truck catching on fire on northbound Interstate 5 near Smokey Bear Road.
According to the CHP’s website, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at around 11:27 a.m., there was a report of a semi-truck on fire on northbound Interstate 5 near Smokey Bear Road. The driver was reported to be out of the vehicle.
The website said the number two, three and four lanes are closed. The number one lane is open.
Heavy traffic can be seen in the area. Expect delays if traveling.
