Midsummer Scream, a horror-themed convention that has called Long Beach home for the last decade, will move to another Southern California city in 2027.
The move is intended to accommodate the event’s growing community of fans, vendors, and more.
Executive Director and co-founder David Markland made the announcement during the convention’s final panel, a presentation about Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
“The demand for people who want to come that can’t come is pretty big, and we need to do something about that,” he said before a video montage revealed images of the Anaheim Convention Center.
The Anaheim Convention Center is also home to other major events, including D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan event and WonderCon.
This year’s Midsummer Scream welcomed more than 50,000 fans from Aug. 7-9 and featured 350 vendors, including major theme parks such as Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Still, the convention isn’t completely leaving Long Beach.
Organizers announced that their fan-favorite holiday horror event, Season’s Screamings, will return Dec. 5-6, 2027, at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Tickets for both Midsummer Scream 2027 and Season’s Screamings are expected to go on sale early next year.
