A night of drinking morphed into a fight between two cousins at a Fresno residence, police say.
Officers responded to a call near the 2000 block of N. Angus Street, in the area of Clinton Avenue and Fresno Street around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said a woman had several friends, as well as her cousin, over to drink at her home. Eventually, she told her guests that she was going to lie down, though they were free to stay and continue hanging out.
However, her cousin was upset and didn’t want the hostess to stop drinking.
This escalated into an argument and, eventually, a fight, Trueba Vega said.
Other partygoers separated the cousins two or three times before both women picked up weapons: one a butcher knife, and one a pair of scissors.
Police say neither cousin threatened or attacked the other with their weapons.
The women dropped the weapons and continued fighting, police say. No one was injured.
Trueba Vega said the incident was documented as a battery.
