The guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney returned to Naval Base San Diego Saturday after a deployment in which it fired Tomahawk cruise missiles at Iran during Operation Epic Fury and was part of the air defense group that protected the San Diego-based carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, the Navy said.

The Pinckney also helped enforce a naval blockage against Iran during its roughly nine-month deployment, which included a stop in Singapore for repairs.

The Navy has not indicated whether the 22-year-old destroyer will need to be laid up for months for additional repairs and upgrades before it embarks on its next deployment.
