Michigan State Police arrested a felon for drunk driving after finding the man asleep in his vehicle in the travel lanes of Interstate 75 in Oakland County on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The 44-year-old Flint man was lodged in the Oakland County Jail on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, open intoxicants, operating without securities (insurance), and operating while intoxicated – high blood alcohol concentration, MSP said in an Aug. 10 X post.
The man is a convicted felon out on bond on an operating while impaired charge, police said.
Metro North Post troopers were dispatched at about 8:45 p.m. to I-75 near Clintonville Road in Oakland County after a report of a vehicle blocking the travel lanes, the MSP Second District said on X.
When troopers arrived, they found the driver asleep. Troopers woke him, and found open intoxicants on the vehicle’s passenger seat, MSP said. Troopers conducted field sobriety tests because the driver appeared intoxicated and found he had more than twice the legal blood alcohol content limit, police said.
Police also found two knives, one 9 inches long and one 12 inches long, while searching the vehicle, MSP said in the post.
