Criminal cases against a Livonia couple accused of human trafficking and other felonies have advanced to Oakland County Circuit Court, following preliminary exams in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills.
Paul Richard Katterman and his wife, Zixuan Wan, are accused of running a human trafficking operation out of several illegal massage parlors, where victims were allegedly living and forced to work long hours with little or no pay. The two are charged with human trafficking enterprise resulting in commercial sexual activity, human trafficking enterprise, keeping a house of prostitution, conducting a criminal enterprise, and failure to file taxes/filing a false tax return. Wan is also charged with second-degree money laundering.

Wan was arrested in March 2025 and Katterman a few weeks later. The charges resulted from a several-month investigation launched in November 2024, led by the Farmington Hills Police Department in collaboration with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the Westland Police Department.
Katterman and Wan are both out on bond and scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 27 before Judge Jeffery Matis.
If convicted, Katterman and Wan could face multiple years in prison and hefty fines.
