SAN LEANDRO — A suspect was arrested on suspicion of shooting a man in the leg during a confrontation about a stolen car, but prosecutors ended up only charging him with possessing a stolen pistol during his arrest, records show.
Queyan Turner, 22, of Oakland, was charged with felony counts of possessing a concealed weapon and a high capacity magazine, after his June 30 arrest. Turner was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in an April 30 shooting where the victim was hit in the leg and injured while confronting people he believed had stolen his car weeks earlier, records show.
Turner was identified as a shooting suspect because a car he allegedly owns was at the scene, and the stolen pistol was a .40 caliber gun, the same type used to shoot the victim. But prosecutors have declined to file the shooting case, records show. Turner was out of jail while facing two separate armed robbery cases that remain pending, according to court records.
After his arraignment in the gun case, where he pleaded not guilty, Turner was released on $150,000 bail. A judge ordered him not to possess guns while he’s out, records show.
Turner has repeatedly shown up in police investigations. In 2023, he was a suspect in a $200,000 strongarm robbery of a 73-year-old man leaving a bank, but was never charged. In June 2024, prosecutors charged him in a similar Emeryville ATM robbery. Six months later, he was charged in a Facebook Marketplace robbery in Oakland involving a $17,000 Rolex watch, court records show.
Police have also identified him as a member of the 69 Ville gang and say that in a 2023 Instagram live feed, he was seen displaying an assault weapon to “taunt” rival gang members.
