Sacramento Kings open 2026-27 season at Clippers, face Portland in home opener
The Sacramento Kings will open the 2026-27 NBA season in Los Angeles.
In the season opener, the Kings will take on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome on Oct. 21, sources told KCRA 3’s Sean Cunningham. That game will serve as the NBA debut for rookie Darius Acuff Jr., who was selected seventh overall by the Kings in June.
The home opener at Golden 1 Center is set for Friday, Oct. 23 against the Portland Trail Blazers, sources said.
The initial home opener had been penciled in for Oct. 24 against the Golden State Warriors, KCRA 3 had learned. But now the plan is for the Kings to host the Warriors on March 10, along with April 4.

The 2026-27 campaign will be the second full season under head coach Doug Christie. The Kings will look to improve from last year’s 22-60 record, which was tied for the worst record in the Western Conference.
On Wednesday, the NBA Cup was released, with the Kings being added to West Group C. They will play the Spurs, Trail Blazers, Lakers and Warriors in November.
