ABC 30 announced Wednesday that anchor Jason Oliveira will take over for longtime anchor Warren Armstrong later this year.

Oliveira will begin anchoring the evening newscasts this fall as Armstrong prepares to retire on Nov. 25 after 26 years at the station.

What we’re watching: ABC 30 will have Oliveira co-anchor Action News Live at Five with Graciela Moreno and Action News Live at Six with Margot Kim.

Oliveira will start in his new role on Nov. 30. He has been with ABC 30 for 20 years and has been the co-anchor for AM Live for the last four years.

Returning to the Valley: The station also announced that Cory James will return to ABC 30 after leaving the station in 2020, working in New York City, Washington D.C. and Atlanta in that period.

James will take Oliveira’s spot on AM Live, starting on Aug. 17.

What they’re saying: “It is truly an honor to follow in Warren’s footsteps,” Oliveira said in a statement. “For decades, he has been a trusted voice in the Valley, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help carry that tradition forward. While it’s bittersweet to step away from the morning show and the viewers who’ve welcomed me into their homes each day, I’m excited for this next chapter. I look forward to continuing to tell the stories that matter most to the Valley and spending my evenings with you right here on ABC30, alongside Graciela Moreno and Margot Kim.”

James stated, “I left here six years ago, with tears in my eyes, to chase my childhood dreams in New York City, Washington, D.C., and most recently, my hometown, Atlanta. With each new chapter, I always thought about this incredible station and the amazing people here in the Valley. When I got the opportunity to come back, I jumped on it with no hesitation because this is where I was the happiest. I can’t wait to share that joy again and get involved with various local organizations while also reconnecting with so many of you in the community in the days, months, and years to come.”
