FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — According to a lawsuit filed by Fresno County, a new state law improperly interferes with the county’s election process and requires a local transportation initiative to appear on the November 3 ballot.
The county is suing the State of California and naming Fresno County Registrar of Voters James Kus in the case.
According to the lawsuit, the Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to instead place the measure on the March 2028 ballot, while Kus has said he plans to put it on the November ballot.
The county is asking a judge to resolve the dispute before the September 9 ballot-printing deadline.
