SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A federal grand jury returned an indictment against a California man accused of trafficking drugs through Utah.
Daniel Luke Adams, age 30, was allegedly found with fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and cocaine during a traffic stop on the interstate. He was charged on August 3.
Agents began investigating a group known to be distributing controlled substances through Utah in May of 2026. On July 31, agents with the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force followed a vehicle traveling from Stockton, California, to Utah.

They pulled the car over on I-80 in Tooele County and discovered Adams was traveling with another vehicle carrying controlled substances, known as a “load car.”
Agents seized 2,272 grams of fentanyl powder, 1,168 grams of fentanyl pills, and 916 grams of cocaine from the load car.
Detectives eventually obtained video from a Stockton residence showing Adams retrieving one of the bags found during the Utah stop from his car into the load car.
He was charged with possession of fentanyl and cocaine with the intent to distribute.
