Jeremiah MartinezSACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A Sacramento County lottery player did not win the over $1 billion Powerball prize, but will not be left empty-handed.

The California State Lottery said an $820,520 winning ticket was sold at the ARCO AM/PM gas station at 3501 Fair Oaks Boulevard near Watt Avenue in the Arden-Arcade area.

The ticket matched five numbers from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. The winning numbers from Wednesday’s drawing were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and 9.

The lottery player in Sacramento County matched five of the winning numbers except for 9, which was the Powerball number.

The $1.04 billion prize was won by a Powerball player in Illinois. Powerball players also matched five numbers in Arizona, Florida and North Carolina, who all won $1 million.

The prize in California was not $1 million because prize payouts are pari-mutuel and determined by sales and number of winners, according to a news release from Powerball officials..

Saturday’s Powerball drawing resets to $20 million.
