San Francisco has plenty of exciting, free events to look forward to this month, including the return of a popular street party and night market in the Mission District this week. The event spans several blocks in the neighborhood and features local food vendors, live music, and more. Here’s what to know.

This week, three blocks in the Mission District will be closed to car traffic for a free street festival. The monthly event, called Valencia LIVE!, is on Thursday, August 13, on Valencia Street, one of the Mission District’s main commercial corridors. The street is packed with restaurants, bars, and shops, and the free street party brings even more local vendors to the area.

The street party has been slowly making its way down Valencia Street since May, and this month’s event will span from the 17th to the 20th. Attendees can also look forward to live music curated by Carnival SF, with this month’s lineup featuring Sambaxé, Chavalos Danza por Nicaragua, and Los Kimberos. On the 19th and 20th, Clemetine Darling and Play Date will be performing. Grace Towers and Friends will host free Latin dance lessons, and you can check out a silent disco.

Plus, you can check out a free clothing swap outside of Community Thrift or help create a community mural. The night market will take place between 5 and 10 pm on Thursday, August 13, and is free to attend. If you’re looking for more night markets to attend this weekend, we recommend checking out the Chinatown Night Market or Fillmore After Dark on Friday, August 14.
