Members of the public got an inside look of the work being done to save and rehabilitate seabirds at the International Bird Rescue center in San Pedro on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Visitors met team members, and learned more about the role of emergency rescues and responses the center was established to meet.

The center, located in Angel’s Gate Park, provided information on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned aquatic birds, and the care that goes into treating them. Other topics included the harmful effects of marine debris, feather wash demonstrations, arts and crafts projects, and talks by the rescue and medical team members who collaborate in the effort.
