Redshirt freshman running back Julius Gillick is making a name for himself at the Fresno State football camp this month.

He’s raising eyebrows with his running ability, but a play this past week caught his teammates’ attention.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs ran the “Midnight Alley” drill, a high-intensity, short-yardage drill involving three offensive players and the running back against three defensive players.

Gillick left everyone speechless when he hurdled over a teammate.

Gillick ran to the edge, and instead of making contact, he leaped over him, leaving the Bulldogs celebrating and congratulating Gillick.

“No one likes seeing a guy get hurdled,” Fresno State linebacker Tytus Khajavi said. “In the video, you can’t see me. I do point at the guy who got hurdled because I’ve never seen a hurdle in my life, ever. When I saw it, I was like in shock. Whoa, like look, he got hurdled. We all know Gilli is a hard-nosed player. We’re all thinking, he’s ready to hit, but to put springs on jump, that had me impressed.”

Gillick played football at Edison High in Huntington Beach, where he helped his team win the 2024 CIF Division-IA championship over Central East.

He appeared late in the Arizona Bowl against Miami (Ohio), where the Bulldogs won 18-3. He had two rushes for 16 yards.
