BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A new YouTube documentary garnering millions of views across the world wide web has a Bakersfield connection. It’s entitled “The Sick Mind of EDP-445.”  

It documents the fall of a popular YouTuber after he was caught in an online sting operation allegedly trying to meet a 13-year-old girl in Bakersfield.

It follows Bryant Moreland — known online as EDP445 — following his cancellation after being caught in two separate vigilante online sting operations — where he was allegedly trying to meet underage girls.

“We filmed here in Bakersfield for the documentary. Tons of his videos that made him famous around Bakersfield. Ultimately he was caught here in Bakersfield. Bakersfield is a massive part of his story,” said Mike Clum who is the director and producer of the documentary.

Moreland became famous for his online rant videos, mostly about the Philadelphia Eagles.

Then in 2021, another YouTuber posed as a 13-year-old girl online and set a meet up with Moreland, at the Pineridge Apartment Complex in east Bakersfield.

“They went through piece by piece and he figured it was the police and if he just said the truth that he would be able to get away. He admitted to everything,” said Clum.

And in Clum’s documentary, the original predator catcher, Chris Hansen interviews Moreland.

Moreland doubled down.

“I showed up that day trying to meet up with an underage girl,” Moreland said to Hansen.

Moreland has never been charged for allegedly trying to meet an underage girl for sex. Clum called the Kern County DA’s office and asked if they would comment on the documentary, they declined.

“I think a lot of people would have liked to know the perspective of why EDP was not prosecuted,” said Clum.

The documentary is not for the faint of heart. It deals with themes of child sexual abuse, pedophilia, and more. A 2023 study, revealed that 1 in 6 men, have sexual attraction to teenagers under 18.

Clum says that’s the audience he made this film for, to prevent that group from acting on their impulses, “If your someone, who is watching the film, and your attracted to minors, well the next day you could either go act on that attraction or not. That I would argue is the most important population of who is watching the film. How do you influence those people to say hey you know what? I see this EDP guy, let me not go that route.”

Clum says all the proceeds made off the documentary are being donated to RAINN, the largest nonproft helping victims of sexual violence.

The DA’s office said it is re-examining Moreland’s case in light of the statements he made in the documentary.
