California regulators voted to approve Charter Communications’ $34.5 billion acquisition of Cox Communications.

This vote was the final step needed before the deal becomes official.

Federal officials approved the merger back in February. It was first announced in May 2025.

The deal creates the country’s leading internet and video provider and will remain the parent company of Spectrum News.

Spectrum will also become the brand within the communities Cox serves.

The company will remain headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut and will maintain a presence on Cox’s Atlanta campus.
