Re “Report: Bike lanes marred by S.D. traffic, lane gaps” (Aug. 6): This article quoted a well-meaning concern: “It’s more like, can an average child or a 70-year-old woman actually ride there?”
I know women riders who are 70 years or older who take offense to this sexist and ageist comment.
It is not a question of free speech. It is a matter of respect. This is not the 1950s. Writers and editors and everyone else ought to know better.
My applause is directed to San Diego State University students in the School of Public Affairs who, in working with BikeSD, completed this important report.
