The high school football game between Central East and Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon-Henderson, Nev. on Friday night was ruled a no-contest after two lightning delays.
Kickoff was set for 6 p.m., but thunderstorms forced a delay. The game started at 9 p.m. before another delay at 9:20 p.m. Officials then ruled the game a no-contest with the Bengals trailing 14-7 in the first quarter.
“Just a frustrating long day,” Central East coach Kyle Biggs said. “To play 8 to 9 minutes.”
The Bengals are the defending Central Section Division I-A and CIF Division I-A champions, while Pinecrest Academy won the 4A Southern Region title and advanced to the Nevada Class 4A state title game.
