BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Fifteen people were arrested following a “quality-of-life enforcement” conducted in east Bakersfield on Wednesday, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
On Aug. 12, BPD Impact Unit officers, Code Enforcement, Rapid Response Team and the Animal Control Unit responded to the area of East 21st and Baker streets for several reports of quality-of-life concerns, officials said.

Flood Ministries went to the area ahead of the operation and connected one person to the Brundage Lane Navigation Center, according to police.
By the end of the operation, officials arrested 15 adults for charges related to lodging in public, possession of drug paraphernalia and active warrants.
According to BPD, one person was arrested after being found with a loaded firearm. Fourteen people were cited for misdemeanor charges related to illegal lodging and blocking a sidewalk.

A dog was seized in the response and will reportedly be staying at the Bakersfield Animal Care Center until its owner gets released.
One person was transported for medical treatment and two vehicles were reportedly impounded.

These operations are funded with the city’s Public Safety and Vitality Services Measure, also known as Measure N.
