Why just rent a cabana when you can own the whole beach club?
New York Beach Club in Atlantic Beach is up for sale, giving a potential buyer the chance to own an 8-acre private club on the Atlantic Ocean, an adjacent 2.75-acre parcel and roughly 775 feet of shoreline.
The sprawling property at 1751 Ocean Boulevard includes a heated pool, a separate children’s pool, private cabanas, lockers, a bar and a full-service restaurant with oceanfront dining.
“It’s emotional,” owner Alex Jacobson told Greater Long Island. “I put my life’s work into this. We built a luxury brand.”
The adjacent 2.75-acre parcel of vacant land is already zoned for beach club use, according to Jacobson, potentially giving a new owner room to expand the existing operation.
Jacobson bought the nearly 95-year-old property in 2016 and said it has since become much more than a business to him.
His vision was to create a luxury resort atmosphere without having to leave New York.
“It’s an experience like no other on Long Island,” Jacobson said. “There’s cabana service, palm trees flown in from Florida. You feel like you are in any high-end Caribbean beach resort, but you don’t have to get on a plane to get there.”
Jacobson said he takes pride in what the club has become.
“I’ve been throwing a party for 1,500 people every weekend for the last 11 years,” he said. “I’m satisfied with what we built, but I’m excited to hand it off and continue to see it grow.”
The property is hitting the market as the New York Beach Club works its way through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings following flooding at the property in 2024.
Jacobson said the flooding and its financial aftermath ultimately led to the bankruptcy filing.
“We were a victim of a natural disaster,” he said. “The site flooded, and that’s what eventually led to us declaring bankruptcy. The lender kept our FEMA funds, which led to a lot of problems.”
The Northgate Real Estate Group listing describes the beach club as a turn-key opportunity, with an established operation and multiple sources of revenue already in place.
An asking price is not being disclosed.
