STANFORD – Junior forward Finn Linas led the Cal Poly men’s soccer program with three shot attempts Saturday evening, but the Mustangs sustained a 2-0 exhibition setback at No. 9 Stanford in the final preseason warmup match for both sides.
Junior midfielder Rylan Firouznam produced two further shot attempts for Cal Poly, which featured 20 players during its second and final preseason exhibition. Cal Poly previously drew San Francisco at home on Aug. 9, 1-1.
In goal, three separate Mustangs appeared with freshman Matthew Guerra chalking up two of the program’s four saves.
Cal Poly opens the 2026 regular season with visits to Denver on Thursday, Aug. 20 (6 p.m. PT) and UC Davis on Sunday, Aug. 23 (7 p.m.).
