OAKLAND — A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Monday night as he drove in East Oakland, authorities said.

The man, who was wounded at least three times, was in stable condition at a hospital.

The shooting, which activated a gunshot detection alert system,  happened around 10:41 p.m. Monday in the 4600 block of Allendale Avenue.

The man was driving when someone on the street began shooting at him, police said. Despite being wounded, he was able to drive a few more blocks and summon help.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No suspect information has been released and no arrests have been made.
