CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — Buchanan High School grad Logan Studt enters his third year at Fresno State feeling more like a linebacker.
The Clovis native committed to make some big changes this offseason so that he could make a bigger impact at the position in 2026.
“When there’s no football going on, you’ve got to find another way to get 1% better,” said Studt. “And my 1% was to try to get bigger, transform my body and actually look like a linebacker out there, not get called a safety when I’m playing linebacker.”
Studt appeared in every game for the Bulldogs last season, sitting No. 4 on the depth chart behind Week 1 starters Jadon Pearson and K’vion Thunderbird and fellow Valley native Tytus Khajavi.
Studt made at least one tackle in 7 of 13 games and received an uptick in snaps when Thunderbird went down for the season in early October.
Now the former Bear wants to build on his 17-tackle freshman campaign, so he started by building himself up.
“I just couldn’t put much weight on,” said Studt. “I was 215 [pounds] in high school, and I played at 212 last year. This morning, I was 231. I spent a lot of time with [Strength & Conditioning] Coach Ward… They did a great job. They pushed me to my limits, and I just hope that I can keep elevating off of that.”
For the first time in many years, Fresno State did not add a linebacker through the transfer portal – a sign of trust in the current LB corps of Khajavi, Thunderbird and Studt.
“Whatever you do to better yourself is going to ultimately make the team better,” said Studt. “So I don’t ever see it as a competition between me and Tytus or K.T. I love both of those guys, and I hope that I can just be there to make them better, and they always make me better.”
