Anaheim police are investigating the death of a woman who was found inside a motel room Tuesday, authorities said.
Officers were called to the Kona Inn Motel on North Brookhurst Street in Anaheim around 12:50 p.m. after an employee found the unresponsive woman in a bathroom.
Authorities told NBC4 that an employee went to the woman’s room after she failed to check out around 11 a.m. and motel staff had not heard from her. The employee knocked on the door and, when no one answered, entered the room and found the woman on the bathroom floor.
A motel employee said the woman was the only person who had checked into the room.
Police are investigating the cause and circumstances of her death and have not released the woman’s identity.
“We don’t know at this point whether this is a homicide investigation or whether these obvious signs are self-inflicted from this person,” Anaheim police Sgt. Eric Anderson said. “So our homicide detectives are here at the scene, are investigating, are canvassing the neighborhood in the area, looking for any witnesses or any evidence at this point.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Anaheim police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
