BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (FOX26) — Three people were killed, and three others were hurt in a fiery three-vehicle wrong-way crash north of Bakersfield early Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on Highway 99, near 7th Standard Road.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash involved a 2022 Honda Accord, a white 2019 BMW 530i, and a white 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. At the time of the crash, it was unknown which vehicle was traveling the wrong way.

CHP says the Honda immediately became engulfed in flames, killing all three occupants.

The driver of the BMW was severely injured, while two people in the Chevy suffered only minor injuries.

It was later learned that the Honda was returning from Fresno, where a mother took her two daughters to a concert.

The trip was to celebrate one of their 17th birthday.

A GoFundMe fundraiser said, “On Sunday, August 16, an unimaginable tragedy changed one family’s life forever. Vanessa and her daughters, Kloie and Kylie, were traveling home from Fresno after attending a concert together to celebrate Kloie’s upcoming 17th birthday on August 20.”

On their way home, their vehicle was struck head-on by a car traveling the wrong direction at a high rate of speed on Highway 99.

“Vanessa, Kloie, and Kylie tragically lost their lives,” the post said.
