Fresno’s roads are not immune to potholes, aging pavement or cracked sidewalks.
Fresno’s network of 1,800 miles of streets was rated at an average of 60 on a scale of 100, which is considered “fair” or “at-risk” on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI). In addition, the city faces $1.2 billion in deferred maintenance on local roads.
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer’s administration does have a plan in action to invest $100 million into local streets through its “Pave More Now” initiative, including segments of Shields Avenue, McKinley Avenue, Shaw Avenue, First Street and others.
But we want to hear from you: what road do you think is in the most need of improvement?
Tell us in the form below and tell us why. The Bee wants to know what about the road made it your pick, whether it be a lack of maintenance over the years, conditions that have damaged your vehicle, or threatened your safety.
Once the results are in, we’ll do a story announcing the top five roads readers say are most in need of work and include a poll to determine number one. Plus, we’ll look into the last time the roads received maintenance.
