A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter for a collision that killed a pedestrian last month in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, police announced Wednesday.
Isaac Bowler was arrested in connection with the collision that was reported shortly after 4 a.m. on July 14 in the 200 block of Sixth Street near Howard Street, according to San Francisco police.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries there, and was later identified by the city Medical Examiner’s Office as David Reinhart, a 57-year-old San Francisco resident.
About a month later, investigators developed probable cause to arrest Bowler. He was arrested in San Francisco on Monday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, failing to exercise due care for a pedestrian, and failing to provide proof of insurance, police said.
Police asked anyone with more information about the case to call their tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
The pedestrian advocacy nonprofit Walk San Francisco said the July 14 crash marked the second fatality in the area of Sixth and Howard streets in less than a year after a 78-year-old man was killed there on Aug. 10, 2025.
