San Jose airport hosts free Joby Aviation air taxi simulator

San Jose Mineta Airport is hosting Joby Aviation’s mobile air taxi simulator, which emulates the company’s fully electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi.

Joby Aviation aims to build a network of air taxis that allow riders to avoid road traffic by traveling through the skies.

“We’re really excited by the opportunity to provide mobility to people from all of the different places that they want to go. What we do is we look at data of how people move today, where there’s traffic, where there’s congestion, where there’s potential takeoff and landing sites, and we try to design networks,” Joby Aviation said.

The simulator will remain at the airport through tomorrow. It is free, and anyone interested can reserve a 30-minute session online.
