BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Bakersfield may be getting a new Olive Garden at a planned shopping center in the southwest area.
On Aug. 11, a public notice was posted in the vacant area in the northwest corner of Gosford Road and Panama Lane.
It notified Olive Garden’s application to sell alcoholic beverages, submitted to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, according to the notice.
The shopping center planned in the area is dubbed “Crossroads.” The Target, which was said to be the anchor store of the project, opened on March 15.
An Olive Garden is currently operating at 1701 New Stine Rd., also in southwest Bakersfield. It is the only Olive Garden in Kern County at this time.
The Planning Division approved a site plan for the entire shopping center, according to city spokesperson Joe Conroy. The business looking to be located there would have to submit a building permit next.

The city can’t comment on individual tenant agreements or the alcohol permit application, Conroy said.
